As a follow-up to the successful Round Table on Corporate Governance in the UNECE region, held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva on February 2005, the meeting of the UNECE Steering Group on Corporate Governance will take place at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday, 26 May 2005.
The Steering Group is supposed to identify two or three main areas of Corporate Governance where the UNECE should focus its efforts in the near future with the view of providing the highest value added to the UNECE governments in the time of the continuing corporate governance controversy. The method of work and involvement of selected organizations and individual experts should be also discussed at that occasion.

The Round Table on Corporate Governance organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe at the Palais des Nations, Geneva on 9 February 2005 identified a number of key pressing issues in the area of corporate governance. Attended by senior corporate executives, government officials, academia representatives and independent experts from more than 40 countries, the Round Table focused in particular on corporate management structures, financial intermediaries, reporting, independent rating, role of shareholders as well as on regulatory environment conducive to good corporate governance practices in the UNECE region.
